Wednesday, October 3rd p.m.

Wind: South, 12 mph
Temp: 79 degrees
Hunt time: 3-1/2 hours

HOT! It is so HOT! I sweated through everything just getting to the stand and sitting down offered no relief until much later in the evening… nothing you can do about it though!

I chose to hunt off a cornfield that had just been combined (with some stalks left up in the middle) and chose the stand that is on the edge of the field just off a small pond that has continued to hold water throughout the drought.

I saw 14 deer – two of them bucks. One was a nice 8-point that I guessed as a 125-inch 2-1/2-year-old and the other a small 6-point basket rack. Had shots at several does, but with back to work in the morning, it’s a “no-doe night.”
