Stealth Cam DS4K

Update: 1/20/2019 I had to send in one DS4K camera in for warranty work. The IR flash would no longer function. The replacement process has been very easy and timely. Stealth Cam customer service was great to work with.

Update: Summer 2018 After updating to the latest firmware battery life has been great. This update also helped with nighttime photo quality. (V08.30.01)

Favorite Setting: Photo Mode – 16MP day photos 8MP night photos – 20-second trigger delay – sensitivity normal – PIR range Standard – IR brightness Full – Reduce Blur Advanced – Photo Burst 3 –– Video Mode – Resolution 2560×1440 – Video Length 25 seconds – 30 second trigger delay – 12 lithium batteries – 32 GB class 10 SD card

Overview: The first 4K trail camera to hit the market made a lot of buzz when first announced. The camera is a solidly built camera with two photo lenses on the front. This camera does take 12 batteries to fill its tray which is more compared to other cameras. It also has a native 16 MP camera while most other cameras have 3-5 MP native cameras. With such a high native camera lens you are able to get clear detailed day photos and videos. With the higher photo and video sizes, you will need to be sure you have a big enough SD card (32gb) and requires at least a Class 10 card (faster-writing speed). I was not impressed with running this camera in 4K video as the videos are only 15 FPS, I feel the second highest video setting (2560×1440) is best with 30 FPS. Early on the camera seems to have some issues, battery life was poor, but be sure to run the latest firmware update as it solves many of these minor issues. The one thing I would change about the camera is adding a 2″ viewing screen, this is a must with setups anymore.
